  18. Description of Working Group:
  19. The Commercial Internet Protocol Security Option Working Group is
  20. chartered to define an IP security option that can be used to pass security
  21. information within and between security domains.  This new security option
  22. will be modular in design to provide developers with a single software
  23. environment which can support multiple security domains.
  24.  
  25. The CIPSO protocol will support a large number of security domains.  New
  26. security domains will be registered with the Internet Assigned Numbers
  27. Authority (IANA) and will be available with minimal difficulty to all
  28. parties.
  29.  
  30. There is currently in progress another IP security option referred to as
  31. IPSO (RFC 1108).  IPSO is designed to support the security labels used by
  32. the U.S. Department of Defense.  CIPSO will be designed to provide labeling for
  33. the commercial, U.S. civilian and non-U.S. communities.
  34.  
  35. The Trusted Systems Interoperability Group (TSIG) has developed a document
  36. which defines a structure for the proposed CIPSO option.  The Working Group 
  37. will use this document as a foundation for developing an IETF CIPSO
  38. specification.

  51.           on specification and prepare it for submission as an Internet-Draft 
  52.           by the end of May.

  55.           The specification will be submitted to the IESG for consideration    
  56.           as a Proposed Standard.

  58.    Mar 92 Submit specification to the IESG for consideration as a Draft        
  59.           Standard.  There must be at least two interoperable implementations  
  60.           by this time.
